A Residential Option

New Horizons Village Community Building  is a center for tenant activities.

New  Horizons Village is a 74-unit apartment complex which provides basic non-medical support services to adults with physical disabilities. Tenants manage their own lives in a supportive  and fully accessible setting. The 26 acres of wooded land on which the apartments  lie are nestled in a residential neighborhood in the Farmington Valley, just  twenty minutes southwest of Hartford, Connecticut.

New  Horizons Incorporated, which owns the Village, is shaped by the population it  serves. Over 50 percent of its Board of Directors and committees are comprised  of people who have disabilities.

The Village combines barrier-free housing with support services and a financial assistance program unavailable elsewhere for qualified tenants.

Of  the 101 tenants residing at New Horizons, many work, volunteer and go to college,  some for the first time in their lives. Others have used the Village as a stepping  stone before moving into their own apartments in the general community.
